Title: Learning Interventionist
Department: Student Success
Reports to: Academic Center Coordinator 

Position Description:

Notre Dame High School is seeking a learning interventionist to support the academic and behavioral development of students in alignment with our Holy Cross Mission and the mission of the Academic Center. The position involves working with a dedicated team to provide instructional support, student monitoring, data collection, and test proctoring.

Responsibilities:
(General)

  • Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and academic growth in the Academic Center
  • Provide direct instruction for the development and implementation of Academic Center services
  • Initiate, plan, and develop academic plans 
  • Coordinate Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings for students
  • Maintain and update accommodation plans for students receiving services in the Academic Center
  • Monitor students with accommodation plans to ensure recommendations and accommodations are implemented
  • Demonstrate a willingness to listen to academic concerns regarding students from parents, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Follow through on requests for academic support from parents, faculty, staff, students, or other stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and in a timely manner with parents
  • Work collaboratively with the National Honor Society Moderator, the National English Honor Society Moderator, and the World Language Department Chair to train tutors and coordinate efforts in the Academic Center
  • Seek out opportunities for additional tutorial support for students
  • Teach a Reading and Writing Strategies class

(Faculty and Staff)

  • Work in cooperation with faculty to foster the implementation of strategies that facilitate student learning
  • Inform and meet with faculty each semester regarding students in their classes who have accommodation plans and are eligible to receive extended time on tests and semester exams
  • Seek input from faculty and staff regarding the academic needs and progress of students
  • Provide support, feedback, or suggestions concerning students scheduled into the Academic Center

(School and College Counseling)

  • Provide feedback to counselors regarding students
  • Communicate concerns and information about programs and activities to the School Counseling Department Chairperson

(Admissions)

  • Meet with Admission representatives to discuss incoming and transfer students with 504s and IEPS 
  • Coordinate meetings with admission personnel, admission and school counseling regarding incoming students with potential Accommodation plans

Requirements

 Attributes:

  • Must have at least an undergraduate college degree in the field from an accredited institution. An advanced degree is preferable but not required
  • The ideal candidate will have a background in Special Education and be able to provide targeted support to students working with individuals or in small groups targeting specific academic difficulties and offering additional resources, with fantastic written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Knowledgeable in: 
    • Executive function deficits and remediation
    • Learning Exceptionalities such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Dysgraphia, Gifted/Talented
    • Social/Emotional/Behavioral Difficulties
    • Data Collection 
    • Various teaching methodologies and learning modalities
    • Google Suite and Classroom 
    • PowerSchool
  • Self-starter ​who ​is ​driven ​to ​learn ​and ​constantly ​seeks ​ways ​to ​improve ​professional ​skills, modernize ​internal ​systems ​and ​implement ​best ​practices
