GREEN KNIGHTS AT WORK...
April 9th, 2025
Students celebrated Black History Month with a "Read In" highlighting the works of Black authors, as well as a prayer service which highlighted Our Lady of Kibeho.
Senior Delvin Donniri received West Haven's Black Heritage Committee's Outstanding Student Award. West Haven students are annually recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments and personal qualities.
Every year, the Midwest Holy Cross Associates (MHCA) sponsors an essay and video contest to encourage students to reflect on their Holy Cross School, the impact it has had on their lives, and the ways they have developed "the competence to see and the courage to act." This year, students were asked to "Reflect on how our Holy Cross school helps individuals discover, develop, and use their God-given gifts." 250 students across nine Holy Cross schools participated. Brody Burns '26 was an Honorable Mention Finalist for placing in the top ten, and Eli Ssenyange '26 placed second in the entire competition!
Members of the Class of 2026 enjoyed personal and academic celebrations in recent months. At the end of January, juniors received their class rings at a ceremony that has become a tradition at Notre Dame.
In February, juniors and seniors were honored for their academic achievements, including induction into the National Honor Society and specific subject honor societies.
Our Robotics Team, under the direction of Dr. Yolanda Valencia, made it to the Connecticut State Championship. Team members Anthony Sabina '27, Ray Bunton '25, Robbie Baird '26, Nicholas McKeown '26, and Yewon Lee '26 made Notre Dame proud! Special thanks to Mr. Richard Meisenheimer '72, President of Spectrum Associates, for his generous support.
...And Green Knights at Play!
While the competition is serious, the annual Student-Faculty Basketball Game was all in good fun. Following their loss to the students last year, the faculty's reputation was redeemed this year with a decisive win against the students.
Students enjoyed the chance to "Pie-A-Knight" as a fundraiser for the Student Government Association. Students could pay to throw a pie at a classmate, teacher, or administrator. The big "winner"? (Maybe not in his opinion...) Mr. Lino Izzo '00, VP for Student Success.
Notre Dame students were joined by students from eight other local schools in Notre Dame Theater's production of "The Great All-American Musical Disaster," a fast-paced farce set in Hollywood. One of the highlights of any Notre Dame production is the chance to do a special performance for local middle school students, which includes a "talk back"program between our guests and members of the cast and crew.
