The tennis program has been in the capable hands of Al “Skip” South since he took over in the spring of 1992. Coach South has accumulated an impressive 300 wins through the 2023 season while developing many all-league players in the process. In the 2017 season, he witnessed the first tennis state title in school history as his ace, Andrew Forchetti '18, ran through the Class L championship match. Coach South was named the 2006 New Haven Register Coach of the Year and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Coach of the Year following a very successful 2006 season. Coach South was recognized once again by the USPTA as its New England High School Coach of the Year in May of 2015. |
