Jason Shea ‘97, who was elevated to Athletic Director in July of 2018, has been Notre Dame's basketball coach since the 2013-14 season. He had spent the previous 10 seasons as an assistant coach to long-time ND bench boss Gary Palladino. Shea guided the Green Knights to a perfect 20-0 regular season in 2016-17, earning SCC Ortho-Now Coach of the Year. Each of his teams has qualified for the CIAC Tournament. Shea captained the 1996-97 Notre Dame to a 17-8 record. He averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds and achieved New Haven Register All-Area status while being named to the Connecticut Post Super 15 as well as being named an honorable mention All-State player. He matriculated at Connecticut College where he played for Glenn Miller. At Connecticut College, Shea served as captain his senior year and his teams went a combined 89-16 in his career, reaching both the Elite 8 and Final 4 on the NCAA Division III level. Prior to becoming Athletic Director in 2018, Shea was in the classroom teaching History and Business classes.

During Shea's most recent two seasons as head coach, he led the team to back-to-back SCC Championship titles for the first time in school history!
