Biography:
Dr. Yolanda Valencia has been teaching for over twenty years. She received her undergraduate education from Northeastern University in Boston where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology with a minor in secondary education. She then went on to receive a Master's degree in education from Endicott College, MA.  Most recently she earned a Doctorate in Education with a specialization in technology integration in K-16 from Johns Hopkins University, MD. She has a passion for innovation and educating students and has the knowledge and understanding of what it takes to grow STEM programs. She has a positive attitude, is results-driven, and takes great pride in growing quality programs by cultivating community partnerships and collaborations. Most of all, she loves students. She marvels at watching them become the best versions of themselves and has always taken pride in her ability to guide them towards their goals. Her teaching style is to inspire and motivate her students to continue their studies in STEM fields. She runs a project-based class allowing students to problem-solve as engineers do in the real world. Yolanda Valencia was born in Havana, Cuba and then immigrated to Miami, FL in 1979. Yolanda has a daughter named Sophie and is married to Mr. Ruben Valencia. A fun fact about Dr. Valencia is that she loves scuba diving and volunteers her time teaching conversational English to underprivileged children in the Caribbean. 

Dr. Valencia also serves as the moderator for the FlightSim and Drone Club, Competitive Robotics Team, and the 3D Printing Club.
